Fusing fashion, sport and culture with the Bangladesh identity at heart

Having worked as a creative designer for over a decade, my career has certainly given me the opportunity to work on some big brands.

I do believe my Bangladeshi heritage helps inspire my work. There’s certainly a sense of empowerment to use it to be creative without conforming to conventional design principles.

However, I know a lot of the young generation of British Bangladeshi may feel disconnected to have the same sense of pride or take inspiration from their cultural heritage. Whether we live in the UK or the States, or our families are from Sylhet or Dhaka, I believe we all have this symbiotic cultural connection and understanding. With all this in mind, I wanted to create a brand that would resonate with the Bangladeshi diaspora. It was a personal ambition to create something that was a celebration of Bangladesh but also evoke an emotional and sentimental feeling of pride for our heritage.

I felt it was fitting to embody this as a sports jersey. The narrative for the brand was simple. Fusing fashion, sport & culture with the Bangladesh identity at heart. I wanted the designs to be accessible and affordable but maintaining a high level of craftsmanship that was a true reflection of Bangladesh.

It was important to collaborate with inspirational figures in our community, from musicians to actors who shared the same positive message for Bangladesh. They are also leading examples in their respective fields through sheer dedication and talent. We are collectively flying the flag for Bangladesh, and it was important to shine a light on their work too. I never take the success of our brand for granted. It’s been a blessing and in return I hope to continue producing products and designs with the Bangladeshi identity firmly embedded in the fabric of our work.
